Yuri Locmelis is more than a volunteer for HOPE Volleyball SummerFest; he’s a dedicated member of the Planning Team, the man behind court setup, and a total rockstar through and through.
Yuri has been tirelessly involved in Summerfest for over 15 years. His cool level head, uplifting attitude, patience, thoughtfulness, and reliability embody the spirit of H.O.P.E. as he lives the values daily.
“He’s the hardest working guy out there.” He works in challenging circumstances – extreme weather, long days, intensive physical labour – and does it all with a smile on his face and not a single complaint. He provides well thought-out solutions to problems, executes these solutions himself, and is always ready to lend a hand.
Everyone who knows Yuri knows what a positive individual he is – no matter what, he is always smiling.
For all of these (and many more reasons!), we’re proud to present the 2024 Spirit of H.O.P.E. Award to Yuri Locmelis.
